Houston - Day 5

Jason took us to Old Town Spring today - a quaint shopping area. This evening we met Jason's girlfriend Valerie and had dinner at Black-eyed Pea.

Hello Texas - Day 4

Have arrived in Houston, Texas at my nephew Jason's house. Today was another travel day with stops at my favorite places.

All Aboard the Pontchartrain - Day 3

From Biloxi to Scott, Louisiana with a quick stop in New Orleans. We had both been there before and got there late so just took a stroll along the Mississippi River in Woldenberg Park then took off as not to get stuck in rush-hour traffic. First time for me driving over Lake Pontchartrain on the Causeway. Got past Baton Rouge and have stopped for the night. Only another 270 miles to go to Jason's and plan to arrive there late Wednesday afternoon. We are both getting road weary, but will be able to rest up once we get to Houston.

The Next Exit - Day 2

From Florida to Alabama to Mississippi all in one day - sounds like alot but it was only 100 miles. Visited Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, Alabama. Not as many flowers in bloom as we had expected but still nice. Then on to Biloxi, Mississippi - spending the night at the Grand Biloxi Casino. My brother said I didn't post enough pictures yesterday, so today I probably went overboard.

On the Road to Houston - Day 1

Thelma and Louise are on their way to Houston. Today was mainly a travel day. We have stopped for the night in Pensacola, FL after putting on approximately 450 miles. Have checked into our "less-than-quality" Quality Inn and the first thing we made sure was that we could get on-line. So you know what's most important to us. Second was to make sure the TV worked - OK there after the Manager reprogrammed our remote. We're heading over to the Cracker Barrel for dinner and then in for the night. No night life for these girls!

Packing NOT

I'm supposed to be getting ready for my next trip - but I'm fooling around with this damn blog. It's addictive like Facebook.

And They Said It Wouldn't Last!

Tom and I just returned from an overnight trip to Sarasota, FL to meet our 1st level cousins Jack and Emma to celebrate our anniversaries, 42 years for us, 41 for them. Yesterday we went to Lido Beach and strolled St. Armands Circle and had an early dinner at Hemingway's Retreat. Also took a nostalgic walk around the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel where Tom and I used to vacation in our younger years. Today we walked around the Sarasota Yacht Club Park and had lunch at Marina Jack's before heading home. A very nice trip although way too short.

Going My Way?

I was going to hitch a ride on this yacht but then "Thelma" would have to drive by herself.

Pictures from Last Trip

Having trouble figuring out how to add pictures at the right spot. So these are the pictures from the last trip in a separate post.

Backtracking: Most Recent Trip

I just returned last week from a road trip up to Pittsburgh to visit my brother-in-law Rich, nephew Brad, Aunt Santy and friends John & Judy and Steve & Jeanne. After a few days layover at our get-away place in Linville, NC, I arrived in Pennsylvania on Easter Sunday just in time to enjoy a great dinner cooked by Judy. Then on to Rich's for a few days where I was also able to visit with cousin Barb. On Tuesday, Steve and Jeanne took me and Judy to the North Shore to visit the new Rivers Casino - you knew I'd manage to get to a casino. And, by the way, no bids so far on the Rivers Casino slot card. I then headed south to Greensboro, NC to attend my great-niece Eleanor's 6th birthday princess tea party. Got back to Florida last Monday, 12 April.

Next road trips:

Wednesday, 21 April - Tom and I are heading to Sarasota, FL to meet cousins Jack & Emma to celebrate our anniversaries. Be back Thursday night in time for the NFL Draft.

Sunday, 25 April - My sister-in-law Debi and I are heading to Houston, TX to see her son and my nephew Jason with stops in Biloxi and New Orleans.

The Start of Something Maybe Not So Big

Hi from Crazy Aunt Liz. I've decided to give blogging a try for a number of reasons:

1. I'm finding that the days are just getting away from me (mostly from my own doing). I'm not saying that I'm so busy doing stuff, it's just the days go by so fast and I don't get much accomplished. At the end of the day I think I'm going to write to my friends and family, and then I'm just too tired. So this will sort of be my way of keeping in touch somewhat and let you know where and what I'm doing. I realize you might not really want to know all that much about me, but if you do, you can check my blog.

2. This will serve as a reminder to myself in journal format of where I've been and what I've done because, frankly, sometimes I don't remember.

3. This blog will also contain all my crazy money-making ideas. Some of these will benefit me directly, and others I will just be passing along for anyone interested whether it be saving money, earning points, or just fun stuff.

4. I will also use this blog to post photos from my travels.

So, since I am new at blogging, this will be a learning experience. I will see what works and what doesn't. This blog may end in a week or may continue - I'm just going with the flow right now.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
