Strolling

On Sunday, 26 Sep, me and the girls went down to Kennett Square, PA to stroll through Longwood Gardens. It was raining when we first arrived so we started in the Conservatory and then ended in the outside gardens as the weather cleared.

Reunited

This past Friday night (9/24/2010), I attended the Cocktail Party portion of the Woodrow Wilson Class of 1965 Reunion. And, yes, I graduated high school 45 years ago. When I first arrived at the Wine Cellar of the Lambertville Station, I was finding it difficult to recognize my classmates. Turned out, I was at the wrong reunion - ours was two floors up. Once I got there everybody had name tags thankfully. I recognized the usual suspects, but would have had a problem without the name tags. It was a fun night.

Saturday (9/25/2010), Mary, Dolores and I headed to the Yardley Harvest Day Festival where I was able to see another high school classmate Maryann Skoglund who was not able to attend Friday night. Later that day we met Linda Rein for dinner.

Atlantic City and Beyond

When I first started this blog and was on a trip I wanted to have the date of the post match the date of the event. Well, I've relaxed that rule quite a bit and now find that I am blogging way after the fact. But what the heck, at least I eventually get it posted. This past Wednesday I flew up to Atlantic City and spent two nights at my favorite casino, Harrahs. Thursday night Eileen and Harley picked me up and took me to dinner for my 63rd birthday which was on the 20th of this month. Friday morning I picked up my rental car and headed to Pennsylvania.

Let's Win One for the Gipper

There may be a few of you out there reading my blog that didn't get this video from Tim of Miller playing soccer. Priceless! I wonder whose side of the family he gets his athletic ability.

The Wedding in Asheville

Last week Tom and I were up in Asheville, North Carolina to attend Andrew and Kristin's wedding. Andrew is Tom's brother's son. The festivities started on Thursday night with the Rehearsal Dinner at Pack's Tavern in downtown Asheville. Friday afternoon we went to an Open House at Andrew and Kristin's house and Friday night attended a cookout at Bob and Barb's rental house on the wedding property. Saturday was the Wedding at Brahma Ridge Event Center. It rained all day Saturday, but thankfully the sun came out about an hour before the Wedding. They were married on a woodside knoll and the reception followed down the hill under a tent. Nobody seemed to mind later that evening when it rained again.

We were there last night - me, Marilyn and Bill at the Huey Lewis conert. Fireworks followed the show. The pictures posted are not from last night - I forgot my camera. Quoting from the American Music Festival's website:

The Daytona Beach Bandshell is located on one of the most famous beaches in the country. This outdoor amphitheater is in Oceanfront Park on the north end of the boardwalk amusement area and overlooks the ocean. It was built in 1937 and is made out of coquina. The Bandshell seats thousands of people and is used for concerts, events and convention activities. This fabulous structure is a popular attraction in Daytona Beach all year long.

The iconic venue will be transformed into a ticketed arena seating approximately 4,200 people for the first time. A truly unique Daytona Beach experience, performers will take this open-air stage with audiences seated in an arena style configuration as they enjoy ocean breezes and dynamic performances.

Saturday, September 4th at 9:00pm: Huey Lewis & the News
Huey Lewis and the News is the iconic American rock & roll band. This dynamic 19-piece ensemble will perform at what is being called “The Huey Lewis Beach Party at the American Music Festival”. Their run of hit singles during the 1980s and early 1990s, boasted an impressive 19 top-ten singles across the Billboard Hot 100, Adult Contemporary and Mainstream Rock charts.
